Should we see you?
Many sleep problems can be helped by your family doctor, and that is the place to start.
However, some problems need more time than a family doctor has available, specialized test facilities, or a specialist's opinion. We have the knowledge, experience and facilities to assess most sleep related problems.
Your family physician can ask our opinion about what is wrong, and what you can do.
We specialize in treating people age 14 or older with:
- abnormal drowsiness
- snoring
- sleep apnea
- trouble falling and/ or staying asleep
- restless limb syndrome
- trouble coping with shift work
- abnormal behaviour during sleep
- sleepwalking
- narcolepsy
- nightmares and other sleep disorders
All patients referred for consultation at NNSDC are seen by Dr Parisa Rahimi, a medical specialist Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Respiratory Medicine, or by Dr Holtby, a medical specialist Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Respiratory Medicine, and Sleep Medicine.
Some problems require a recording during sleep - a 'sleep study'. Your doctor may request we do a sleep study without a consultation with one of our physicians, or we may arrange one or more sleep studies as part of your evaluation. NNSDC has a 6 bedroom digital sleep lab on site and does overnight recordings Sunday to Thursday nights. We can do daytime sleep studies in shift workers as well as several other special sleep study tests. The centre's technical staff are all Board Certified Polysomnography Technologists and are all Registered Nurses.
